Purdue Polytechnic’s School of Engineering Technology produces new members for Teaching Academy

Purdue Polytechnic’s School of Engineering Technology has produced two new members for the Teaching Academy at Purdue University. Brittany Newell and Matthew Turner were inducted for their outstanding and scholarly teaching in graduate, undergraduate, or engagement programs.

The Teaching Academy recognized candidates based on evidence of excellence in teaching, innovation in teaching methodology, teaching-related service, and scholarship in teaching and learning. The new fellows come from a variety of disciplines, including Engineering Technology, Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, and Libraries and School of Information Studies.

The Teaching Academy’s goal is to bring together the best teaching faculty and graduate students across the campus to promote teaching excellence. In collaboration with the Center for Instructional Excellence, the Teaching Academy supports various programs and activities that encourage educational creativity, innovation, and effectiveness both in and outside of the classroom.

Matthew Turner expressed his gratitude for being inducted into the Teaching Academy. “I am very honored to be recognized,” he said. “I thank the Teaching Academy members for their leadership in promoting teaching excellence.” He also acknowledged the administration, faculty, and staff of Purdue Polytechnic for creating an environment that fosters world-class classroom instruction.

Brittany Newell shared similar sentiments about being inducted into the Teaching Academy. She stated that she is grateful to have been recognized for her outstanding work as a teacher.

Both Newell and Turner are excited about joining this distinguished group of academics who share a passion for education. They look forward to collaborating with other fellows from different departments to share their knowledge and expertise with students at Purdue University.

Overall, these six new members will bring valuable insights into various fields of study while enhancing Purdue’s commitment to delivering exceptional education experiences to its students.
