Princeton Fencer Alec Brooke Takes Silver at Junior World Championships, While Teammate Tatiana Nazlymov Shines in Women’s Saber Competition
Alec Brooke, a freshman at Princeton University, has just secured a silver medal in épée at the Junior World Championships held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on April 15th. In a field of over 200 fencers, Brooke finished as the runner-up after an impressive performance.
Brooke had a standout performance at the NCAA championships, finishing 14th. His fellow Princeton teammate, Tatiana Nazlymov, also put on an impressive showing at the Junior World Championships. In the women’s saber competition, she finished 15th out of 132 fencers, with a record of 4-2 in the pool rounds.
Nazlymov made it to the round of 16 and faced off against Alexandra Kuvaeva from Georgia before being eliminated with a score of 15-12. Despite this setback, Nazlymov had victories over fencers from Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan and Bulgaria throughout the competition.
