Power Plays: Ole Miss Softball Defeats Southern Miss with Home Runs and Exceptional Pitching
In a softball game at the Ole Miss Softball Complex in Oxford, Mississippi, Angelina DeLeon and Lexie Brady helped lead Ole Miss to a 7-3 victory over Southern Miss. Brady hit her team-leading 13th home run of the season, which was the third most by a player in a single season in program history. DeLeon also hit her second home run of the season and had a two-hit night.
Southern Miss scored first in the game, but Ole Miss responded with three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead. After Southern Miss tied the score in the second inning, Grace Sparks came into the game and pitched effectively to keep the game level. The Rebels broke the tie in the fourth inning with two runs, thanks to hits from DeLeon and Ryan Starr. Lassiter delivered a two-run single to put Ole Miss ahead 5-3.
