National Memorial Day Concert to Highlight WWII Tribute and Honor Gold Star Families

PBS Honors U.S. Military and Families in a 35th Anniversary National Memorial Day Concert

This year, PBS is celebrating the 35th anniversary of its National Memorial Day Concert, which will be hosted by Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise on May 26. The concert, held on the west lawn of the Capitol, is a tribute to members of the military and their families through music and storytelling.

The event features several segments that highlight different aspects of military service and its impact on individuals and families. In one segment, Bryan Cranston will pay tribute to World War II, while John T. “Jack” Moran will share his experiences as a U.S. Army veteran. Another segment will remember Gold Star families, with BD Wong sharing the story of Vietnam veteran Allen Hoe and his family’s legacy of service.

The concert will also feature performances by Cynthia Erivo, Gary LeVox, and other talented artists. Additionally, there will be a Salute to Services with the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Service Color Teams to honor those who have served our country.

The concert will be broadcast on PBS and the American Forces Network, as well as streamed online for viewers around the world to watch in honor of our fallen heroes and their families. The co-production is made possible by Michael Colbert from Capital Concerts in partnership with WETA in Washington D.C.
