Xplora and Sierra Lobo Sign Agreement for Italian Anti-Mine Systems in USA

Innovative Partnership Between Italian and American Companies Brings Cutting-Edge Mine-Resistant Drone System to the US Military

In a significant development, Italian company Xplora and American firm Sierra Lobo Inc have reached a collaboration agreement to provide the US government and Department of Defense with a mine-resistant drone (RMDS) system. Known as SLIX RMDS, the cutting-edge technology includes an unmanned aerial vehicle, sensors suite, communications package, AI/ML-based software and an interface/integration processor. It can detect landmines in real time and create an underground mine map.

Sierra Lobo CEO George Satornino expressed his pride in the deal with Xplora, emphasizing its humanitarian potential. Similarly, Xplora CEO Marco Pesci expressed satisfaction with the partnership with Sierra Lobo Inc., highlighting their operational experience for the American market. The goal is to leverage their technology to assist civilian populations in conflicts.

The SLIX RMDS will be showcased at the U.S. Army Maneuver Support & Protection Integration eXperiments 2024 (MSPIX’24) in May 2024 at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. While this marks their initial entry into the US market, both companies are already researching and developing next-generation capabilities for applications ranging from subsurface investigations to military use.
