New OPS Director of Technology Brings Fresh Vision and Leadership to Enhance Collaboration and Growth among Students and Staff

Owensboro Public Schools has recently appointed Chad Alward as the district’s Director of Technology. Alward brings with him over 16 years of administrative experience, having served in various leadership roles such as assistant principal at different schools, director of the K-8 Virtual Academy within Daviess County Public Schools, and District Instructional Technology Coordinator at Ohio County Schools. Currently serving as Assistant Principal at Daviess County High School, Alward is excited to join the team at OPS and looks forward to collaborating with technicians, students, teachers, administrators, and the community to enhance the district’s success and uphold its tradition.

As the Director of Technology, Alward will be responsible for providing vision and leadership in implementing and maintaining information technology initiatives district-wide. His focus will be on enhancing collaboration and growth among staff and students, with the aim of preparing students for success in an ever-evolving technological landscape.

Alward emphasized that his goal is to create an environment that encourages critical thinking and creativity rather than just consumption of technology. He aims to create a culture where students are empowered to use technology as a tool for learning and skill development, preparing them for future challenges.

Interim OPS superintendent Anita Burnette praised Alward as a highly qualified candidate for the position, citing his extensive experience and ability to adapt to technological advancements. Burnette noted that Alward’s leadership and innovative approach to technology education will further establish the district as a leader in the field.
