Meet the Electric G-Class: A Blend of Tradition and Innovation

The iconic Mercedes-Benz G-Class is getting a new electric variant, the first fully electric model from the brand. This new addition to the G-Class family signifies a perfect blend of tradition and innovation. The electric G-Class retains its distinctive angular design and iconic features while staying true to the original.

The body of the vehicle is constructed on a ladder frame that has been updated and strengthened by the development team to accommodate the electric drive. The G-Class also maintains its independent front suspension with double wishbones and a new rigid rear axle, which provides unique driving capabilities and exclusive functions like G-TURN, which allows the vehicle to turn almost on the spot on unpaved surfaces.

Powered by four individual electric motors near each wheel, delivering a maximum output of 432 kW, this model offers a range of up to 473 kilometers according to WLTP standards. The high-voltage lithium-ion battery has a usable capacity of 116 kWh, providing exceptional performance for off-road enthusiasts.

The G-STEERING function offers significantly reduced turning circle when driving off-road, while the three-speed intelligent off-road crawl function acts as off-road cruise control, maintaining propulsion on various terrains. Similar to previous models, the Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology can handle slopes of up to 100% on suitable surfaces and remains stable on sideways inclines of up to 35 degrees. It also boasts an impressive maximum fording depth of 850 millimeters, surpassing its petrol counterparts by 150 millimeters.
