Winners of Wyoming’s Favorite Baby Name Contest Announced

New Arrivals: Top Baby Names in Wyoming for 2023 Revealed

The top baby names for 2023 in Wyoming have been announced, with Evelyn taking the title for the most popular female name and Henry topping the list for males. According to Vital Statistics Services (VSS), part of the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH), these were the most chosen names among new parents in the state.

Amelia, Olivia, Harper, Charlotte, Hazel, Eleanor, Lainey, Oakley, and Aurora followed closely behind Evelyn as popular choices for baby girls born in Wyoming in 2023. On the other hand, Henry was tied with Jack and Wyatt as the top choices for boys. Other popular boy names included Elijah, Carter, Asher, Theodore, Benjamin, Waylon and Noah.

Kyndra Herrera of VSS deputy state registrar at WDH mentioned that there was a bit of a shakeup in the top names for 2023. Parents consider various factors when choosing names for their children such as family names and pop culture influences like movies or TV shows. In 2023 there were 5989 births among Wyoming residents which is a slight decrease from the previous year but more births than deaths among residents in 2023 indicating that many mothers choose to deliver their babies outside of state hospitals. More details about obtaining official records, state statistics and VSS program can be found on the Wyoming Department of Health website.

Overall it’s important to note that VSS plays a crucial role in promoting and protecting the health of Wyoming residents by managing all vital records in the state and providing health information and reports.
