Helena Boasts Some of the Finest Beer in the World

Montana Craft Breweries Soar to New Heights in World Beer Cup Competition

The world of craft beer in Montana has been elevated to new heights thanks to the recent success of two Helena-based breweries at the World Beer Cup. Lewis and Clark Brewing Company and Copper Furrow Brewing both received awards, with Lewis and Clark taking home a gold medal for its Miner’s Gold Hefeweizen American wheat beer and Copper Furrow earning a bronze award for its Tmavé international dark lager.

Lewis and Clark owner Max Pigman expressed his excitement and pride at the achievement, crediting the quality and consistency of the product to his team. With over 2,000 breweries submitting more than 9,000 beers, the competition was stiff, but Lewis and Clark stood out among the rest. Pigman emphasized that their commitment to producing top-notch beer is what set them apart from other breweries.

Copper Furrow head brewer Nick Diehl explained that Tmavé is a unique Czech lager with a richness and slightly roasted taste that makes it a popular choice among beer connoisseurs. This was Copper Furrow’s first time medaling at the prestigious event, making it a significant achievement for the team. Diehl expressed satisfaction at winning such a major award, highlighting the hard work and dedication that goes into crafting award-winning beers.

Two other Montana breweries also earned Bronze awards at the competition: Sacred Brewing Company in Kalispell and MAP Brewing Company in Bozeman. The full list of winners can be found online, showcasing the diverse range of talent in the craft beer industry.
