Miba’s growth driven by wind power and e-mobility

Miba’s Remarkable Growth in Wind Energy and E-Mobility: A Journey to Expansion and Innovation

Miba, a leading industrial company based in Upper Austria, has experienced remarkable growth in the past year. Sales increased by 8.1 percent to €1.205 billion, with 60 percent of the revenue coming from the industrial goods sector and 40 percent from the automotive business. Despite this growth, Miba has not disclosed its profitability for several years.

Miba’s success in recent years can be attributed to its innovative solutions in both the wind energy and e-mobility sectors. In wind energy, sales have tripled over the past two years due to products such as plain bearings for gears and friction pads for brakes, which are installed in towers capable of generating electricity for over 80,000 households. Meanwhile, sales of components like battery systems and pulse inverters have also tripled in the e-mobility sector over the past two years.

CEO F. Peter Mitterbauer remains optimistic about Miba’s future despite fluctuations in the electric car market. The company is continuing to invest in its production facilities and expand its operations globally, with plans to expand into Mexico, China, and Austria. Additionally, Miba places a strong emphasis on research and development, registering almost half of its 48 new patents and utility models last year in the e-mobility sector alone.

Despite challenges such as rising labor costs and concerns about Austria’s competitiveness as a manufacturing location, Miba remains committed to its global presence. The company operates across Europe, Asia, North and South America with 29 locations employing over 7,600 people worldwide. In Austria alone, Miba employs nearly 3,000 workers with plans for further growth and investment in the coming years.

In conclusion, Miba’s impressive growth over the past year highlights its continued commitment to innovation and expansion within both wind energy and e-mobility sectors while remaining competitive globally despite challenges faced by many manufacturing companies today.
