One of the major accomplishments of this year’s session was the Chamber’s advocacy efforts resulting in $1.006 billion in savings for Kentucky employers. This translated to a savings of $589 per employee in the state. Additionally, lawmakers made significant investments in the Commonwealth’s future through the biennial budget, funding priorities such as child care, education, economic development, infrastructure and more.
The Chamber also successfully advocated for various priorities including the enactment of voluntary paid leave insurance, the removal of barriers to opening new child care centers, the establishment of a data privacy framework, the authorization of autonomous vehicles and the expansion of the signature bourbon industry. Notably, the General Assembly did not pass new sales taxes on business purchases, a top priority for the Chamber.
