Collaboration between Rakuten Mobile and South Korean Operator Stage X in Technology

Japan and Korea Join Forces to Unleash Innovation in Telecommunications: A New Era of Collaboration between Rakuten Mobile, Rakuten Symphony, and STAGE X

Rakuten Mobile, Rakuten Symphony, and South Korean mobile network operator STAGE X have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a comprehensive framework for strategic collaboration in technology and business exchange. The MoU brings together the newest mobile network operators in Japan and Korea to focus on technological collaboration and business synergies between the three companies.

STAGE X is a new greenfield mobile network operator that is preparing to provide 5G services in the 28 GHz spectrum. By working with Rakuten Mobile and Rakuten Symphony, the company will have access to industry-leading telecom solutions and expert knowledge in various technical areas. The discussions between the companies will also encompass various aspects of Stage X’s upcoming projects ranging from business operations to technical areas.

In addition, the three companies are exploring cooperation considering expansion to mid-band frequency and the development of a 6G-based national network from a long-term perspective. Sangwon Seo, CEO of Stage X, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration with Rakuten Mobile and Rakuten Symphony as the companies represent their respective countries and aim to continue broad cooperation.

Rakuten Mobile is praised for building and deploying the world’s first fully virtualized, cloud-native mobile network with a modern infrastructure that ensures stable telecommunication services as the newest mobile network operator in Japan. As Stage X builds out its infrastructure to provide 5G services in the 28 GHz spectrum, there is excitement about working with Rakuten and learning from their experience across a wide range of areas. The CEOs of Rakuten Mobile and Rakuten Symphony are optimistic about collaborating with South Korea’s newest mobile network operator.
