Austin-based global sports media company, FloSports, has recently been honored by the International Sports Press Association for its excellence in the Video Athlete Profile category at the AIPS Sports Media Awards. With over 1,800 submissions from 141 countries across 11 categories, this prestigious international recognition received a lot of attention. ‘Bob Beamon: The Legacy Beyond The Leap’ was named as a top three finalist in this category.
The feature explores Beamon’s past and present in track and field, highlighting his remarkable achievement alongside the backdrop of social change. Published during Black History Month in 2023 on FloTrack and MileSplit channels, it garnered recognition for FloSports for the third consecutive year. Previous entries such as ‘Allie Ostrander: Under Pressure, Gaining Your Life Back’ and ‘Caitlin Little: Fifteen Forever,’ also made it to the top 10 in previous years.
FloSports was recognized in two other categories during the AIPS Sports Media Awards apart from Video Athlete Profile. The longform feature story on MileSplit titled “Noor’s Pursuit: A Young Muslim Woman’s Fight For Equality” was celebrated for Best Color Piece while “San Elizario: Una Forma De Vida,” a longform feature documentary on MileSplit, was recognized for Video Documentary. The winners of each category will receive cash prizes with the overall winner taking home $8,000, runner-ups receiving $3,000 and third-place finishers getting $2,000.
