Kentucky’s Medical Cannabis Industry on the Horizon: Gov. Beshear Signs Bill for a Faster Start and Ensures Safety

The medical cannabis industry is expanding rapidly across the country, and a recent bill signed by Gov. Beshear in Frankfort, Kentucky, provides a framework for residents interested in participating in this growing sector. House Bill 829 was introduced to address concerns raised by Senate Bill 47 from the previous year, which set the start date for Kentucky’s medical cannabis industry as January 1, 2025. Some professionals, like Matthew Bratcher from Kentucky NORML, have raised concerns about subjecting patients to criminal background checks before entering the cannabis registry.
