Vennam and Wiener Claim Compound Titles at Shanghai 2024 Season Opener

Hyundai Archery World Cup Comes to Tlaxcala, Mexico this Season: Austrian Archery Sensation Werner Ready to Take On the World

The Hyundai Archery World Cup is coming to Tlaxcala, Mexico this season and the Austrian 27-year-old archer, Werner, is looking forward to it. He displayed exceptional accuracy during the 15-arrow match at the previous stage in Shanghai, rarely missing the eight-centimetre 10-ring. He only missed the four-centimetre X-ring twice in the first end and once each in the second and third.

Werner reflected on his victory, stating that last year was challenging for him as he didn’t win anything. Winning in Mexico was an amazing experience for him, and he expressed his excitement at being in the country. This will be Werner’s first Hyundai Archery World Cup Final.

Jyothi Surekha Vennam from India will be participating in her second final after Hermosillo last year, where she defeated the top-seeded archer from Mexico to secure her slot. Unfortunately, Andrea Becerra narrowly missed out on qualifying for the final as she had a point to lose with one arrow remaining. However, her last shot landed in the eight ring, allowing Vennam to secure her spot with a wider nine ring score.

The Hyundai Archery World Cup this season consists of three stages instead of four due to unforeseen circumstances. Points accumulated with strong finishes in Shanghai placed archers in a good position to qualify for the final based on rankings. Stage winners like Vennam and Wiener have already secured their spots in the final while the recurve finals will conclude the competition on Sunday.

Archery enthusiasts are excited about this season’s Hyundai Archery World Cup as it promises to be an intense battle between some of the world’s best archers.
