Chinese researchers reveal new brain implant enabling monkey to control robotic arm with thoughts

Chinese Scientists Revolutionize Brain-Computer Interface Technology: Monkey Controlled Robotic Arm using Thoughts

In China, a revolutionary new brain implant has been developed that allows a monkey to control a robotic arm using only its thoughts. This technology is based on a high-performance brain-computer interface (BCI) called Neucyber, which was independently developed by Chinese scientists.

Neucyber consists of three components: high-capacity flexible microelectrodes, two high-speed neural signal acquisition devices, and a generative neural decoding algorithm. This cutting-edge technology captures subtle changes in the brain’s electrical signals, decodes brain intentions, and achieves control over actions through thoughts.

The implantable electrodes made from flexible materials minimize damage to the brain and ensure long-term stable signal acquisition. Experts have reported that the flexible electrode implanted in a monkey’s skull has been stable for nearly a year and continues to provide high-quality signals.

These advancements hold great promise for paralyzed individuals who may one day regain the ability to touch and grasp objects in the physical world. The technology could also have significant implications for individuals with disabilities and could revolutionize the way we interact with machines and technology in the future.
