Hooliganism on the Road: The Serious Consequences of Disrupting Highway Traffic with Burning Tires

On April 24, criminal proceedings were initiated in connection with a group of unidentified individuals disrupting traffic on the Yerevan-Yeraskh highway using burning tires. According to reports from the Investigative Committee, the incident occurred at 4:25 p.m. in the Masisi section. The police were instructed to investigate and identify those responsible for this offense, locate them and present them to the appropriate authorities for further action in the legal proceedings.

The deliberate disruption of traffic with burning tires on a busy highway highlights the seriousness of the offense and the need for swift action to bring those responsible to justice. Details provided by the committee revealed that three cars, Ford Tranzit, BMW X5, and Mercedes Benz, were moved onto the lanes of the Yerevan-Yeraskh interstate highway where numerous tires were piled up. These tires were then set on fire on one side towards Yeraskh and on the other side towards Yerevan, causing a disruption in traffic for a certain period of time.

According to Article 297, Part 2, Clause 1 of the Criminal Code, this incident falls under the category of group hooliganism. As such, those responsible will face serious consequences if found guilty in court.

It is important that justice be served swiftly in cases like these as they can have severe consequences not only for those involved but also for society at large. The police must work diligently to identify and apprehend those responsible so that they can be held accountable for their actions and society can move forward without fear of further incidents like these occurring again.
