Global Efforts to Save Endangered Species: A Closer Look at International Collaboration and Challenges
Efforts to address the challenges faced by plants and animals worldwide are ongoing. Initiatives such as those in Gorongosa National Park have offered hopeful stories of wildlife recovery, which are essential for both the wildlife and the surrounding community. Despite this, international bodies like IPBES, the United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP 15), and CITES continue to focus on biodiversity conservation. However, these organizations may not always integrate each country’s individual conservation plans, raising questions about how they collaborate and the challenges of working as an international community to protect global biodiversity.
In our final installment of SOS: Save Our Species, we explore these issues and examine the efforts being made globally to address pressing challenges related to biodiversity conservation. Copyright 2024 WAMU 88.5.
