Junior World Championships in Italy Attract Skiers from Winter Park

From the Mountains of Winter Park to the Podium in Valmalenco: The Journey of Asher Michel and Olivia Maurais on the Freestyle Ski Team

Two talented skiers, Asher Michel and Olivia Maurais, from the Winter Park Competition Center will represent the Stifel U.S. Freestyle Ski Team and U.S. Ski & Snowboard at the Freestyle Junior World Ski Championships in Valmalenco, Italy. The championships will take place from April 3-6 at Chiesa Resort.

Asher Michel, who has had an impressive career in skiing, will be competing in his second championships. In 2023, he won gold in the team dual moguls race and placed third in moguls. This season, Michel has continued to excel and earned gold in dual moguls at the NorAm Cup at Stratton Mountain Resort on March 2. His hard work and dedication have paid off, and he is determined to make a mark on the international stage once again.

On the other hand, Olivia Maurais has also been making a name for herself this season by competing in multiple NorAm and World Cup events. She placed ninth in moguls at the U.S. Freestyle National Championships and fifth in moguls at the NorAm Cup at Deer Valley Resort. Maurais showcased her skills at Winter Park Resort where she won third place before a home crowd. She is determined to continue her success and bring home more accolades for herself and her team.
