15 Privateer Bikes Competing in Fort William World Cup 2024

From Factory Team Riders to Passionate Privateers: The Unbeatable Spirit of Downhill Mountain Biking at the Fort William World Cup

At the Fort William World Cup pits, we had the chance to witness the cutting-edge bikes and technology used by the world’s top downhill mountain bikers. Riders like Greg Minnaar, Tahnee Seagrave, Nina Hoffmann and other factory team members are equipped with all the tools they need to succeed, including a dedicated mechanic, team manager, chef and sports massage therapist on hand for support. These riders also have backup bikes available in case of emergencies.

On the other hand, there are around 80 privateers who take on multiple roles in addition to racing down Aonach Mòr at breakneck speeds. They may not have access to the latest technology, but their bikes have seen more descending than any factory team rider’s bike. Despite not having all the high-tech gear, these privateers work tirelessly to compete at their best in the competition.

What sets these privateers apart is their unwavering dedication to their craft and passion for the sport. Each one has a unique story about their favorite thing about their bike, showcasing their resilience and spirit that drives them to take on the challenges of competitive downhill mountain biking.
