More than 200 Dong Nai residents now suspected of poisoning from tainted bread

Food Poisoning Outbreak: 209 Patients Sickened in Long Khanh, Vietnam

On May 1-2, Long Khanh Regional General Hospital was overwhelmed with 209 patients suspected of suffering from food poisoning after eating meat sandwiches from a local business in Xuan Binh ward, Long Khanh. One serious case required transfer to a higher hospital for further treatment. Of the admitted patients, 160 received treatment, 5 underwent examinations and were then discharged, and 43 had mild cases that were immediately discharged.

All patients exhibited symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and abdominal pain after consuming the bread between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on April 30. Doctors diagnosed them with intestinal infections and suspected food poisoning. Fortunately, most of the patients are now in stable condition.

The Food Safety and Hygiene Department of Dong Nai province will collaborate with the Medical Center and relevant agencies in Long Khanh City to investigate the cause of the incident. The Department of Health has instructed Long Khanh Regional General Hospital to provide the best treatment conditions for the patients. The bakery that sold the bread has been operating for over ten years but is currently suspended from business due to a lack of food safety and hygiene certification.

The city’s Chairman visited the patients at the hospital to ensure their well-being. It is crucial to determine the source of the food poisoning outbreak to prevent future incidents and ensure the safety of the community.

In conclusion, it is imperative that food establishments prioritize food safety and hygiene standards to prevent such incidents from occurring again in the future. It is also essential for consumers to be vigilant when purchasing food items from unknown sources or businesses that do not have proper certifications.

Food poisoning can be a severe health concern if not treated promptly, causing long-term damage to an individual’s health or even death in some cases. Therefore, it is crucial for all stakeholders involved in the production, distribution, and consumption of food products to work together towards ensuring a safe environment for everyone involved.

Overall, it is vital for consumers to take responsibility for their health by only purchasing products from reputable sources with proper certifications or recommendations from trusted individuals or organizations like healthcare providers or government agencies responsible for regulating consumer goods’ quality standards
