Israel appreciates EU’s dedication to enforcing sanctions on Iran

EU Imposes Sanctions on Iran in Unprecedented Move to Address Aggressive Actions in Middle East

The European Union has committed to imposing sanctions on Iran following its recent attack with drones and missiles in response to the Israeli bombing of the Iranian Consulate in Damascus in April. This decision was welcomed by Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz, who praised it as an unprecedented achievement for both Israel and the EU. The EU High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, announced on Tuesday that the organization will work to expand existing sanctions against Iran’s drone sector. This expansion would target the supply of Iranian missiles and drones to groups in the region such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen. Borrell also mentioned the possibility of expanding these sanctions to include Iraq and Syria.

The EU’s commitment to imposing sanctions on Iran marks a significant step in addressing Iran’s aggressive actions in the region. The organization intends to declare the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization, which is a move that Israel has long advocated for. This move is seen as a way to put pressure on Iran and prevent it from continuing its illegal activities in the Middle East.

Israel looks forward to continued cooperation with the EU to promote peace and stability in the Middle East. The country has been working closely with its European allies to counter Iran’s aggression and protect its own security interests. With the EU’s commitment to imposing sanctions on Iran, Israel feels that it has a stronger ally in its fight against terrorism and aggression in the region.
