Egypt and Iran to Keep Discussing Normalizing Relations

Egyptian, Iranian Foreign Ministers Discuss Bilateral Relations and Middle Eastern Issues at Islamic Summit Conference in Banjul

During the 15th session of the Islamic Summit Conference in Banjul, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdullahian to discuss ongoing issues between their respective countries. The two foreign ministers agreed to continue bilateral consultations in an effort to normalize relations and address outstanding topics.

The meeting focused on the course of bilateral relations between Egypt and Iran, taking into account previous contacts and meetings between the two ministers. They also discussed the agenda of the Islamic Summit, emphasizing the importance of solidarity and unity among Islamic countries in the face of significant challenges.

One of the main topics of discussion was the ongoing war in Gaza Strip, with Shoukry updating Abdullahian on Egyptian efforts to reach a truce for exchange of prisoners and permanent ceasefire. Both foreign ministers expressed a complete rejection of Israel’s ground military operations in Rafah, emphasizing the potential danger to Palestinian lives and worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza strip.

The meeting underscored both countries commitment to strengthening cooperation and unity within Islamic world, serving as a platform for discussing important issues affecting region and reaffirming shared goals of peace, stability and progress.
