Paris 2024 Embraces Sustainability with Nearly 500 Social and Solidarity Companies Participating

Eco-Friendly Entrepreneurship in Action: Social Businesses Clean Up and Revolutionize Sustainable Living at the Olympic Village”.

Nine social businesses have been awarded contracts totaling EUR 1.6 million to provide cleaning and laundry services for the 24,000 residents of the Olympic and Paralympic Village. These businesses prioritize social and environmental sustainability in their operations.

The Aquatic Centre and La Chappelle Arena have 11,000 chairs made from sustainable materials developed as part of the Le Pavé project. This project, created by three young entrepreneurs, focuses on transforming plastic waste into innovative materials that can replace cement and virgin plastic. What began as a student project has now become a successful business that prioritizes sustainability and innovation.

Halage is an association dedicated to training individuals who are facing barriers to employment. They are responsible for creating green spaces within the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Village. Their work aims to reintegrate nature into urban areas that have been affected by pollution, promoting sustainability and community engagement.

H.A.W.A AU FÉMININ is a company that provides training in fashion-related activities for women facing life challenges in creating souvenirs from used textile materials from the Arena Porte de la Chapelle construction site. This initiative not only promotes creativity and skill development but also contributes to reducing waste and promoting sustainability in the construction industry.

Overall, these social businesses are making positive contributions to both the local community and the environment through their sustainable practices and innovative approaches to problem-solving.
