Double Trouble: Texas Tech’s Bailey Maupin and Jasmine Shavers Make CSC Academic All-District and Academic All-America Teams

Jasmine Shavers and Bailey Maupin, two standout women’s basketball players at Texas Tech University, have recently earned academic honors in addition to their outstanding performances on the court. Both athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for the first time in their careers, as well as being selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists.

Maupin and Shavers played crucial roles for the Lady Raiders this season, earning All-Big 12 Honorable Mention. Maupin was a key player who started every game and averaged 31.6 minutes per game, leading Texas Tech in scoring with 27 double-figure games and 102 assists. She also scored an impressive 14.1 points per game and made 127 free throws with an impressive shooting percentage of 85.8%.

Maupin had a breakthrough season, recording four games of 20 or more points and her first career double-double against Sam Houston. She led the team in scoring 12 times and racked up assists 19 times throughout the season. During Big 12 play, Maupin averaged an impressive 13.3 points per game with two games scoring over twenty points each.

Shavers also had a standout year for the Lady Raiders, leading them in scoring with an average of 15.4 points per game. She had eight games of 20 or more points and recorded a total of twenty-six double-figure scores throughout the season. Shavers also pulled down an average of five rebounds per game and notched two double-doubles during Big 12 play alone.

During Big 12 play, Shavers scored an average of fourteen points per game while hitting two twenty-point games during conference championships, including a new career high of twenty nine points against Houston.

She led the team with fifty five made three pointers and shot forty percent from field making her an asset for her teammates on court.

Both Maupin and Shavers have shown excellence both academically and athletically this season at Texas Tech University, earning them recognition as CSC Academic All-District Team members and as finalists for CSC Academic All-America honors.
