Chautauqua Christian Academy Defenders Put on a Resilient Show to Clinch Third Place at National Christian School Basketball Tournament

The Chautauqua Christian Academy Defenders had a strong showing at the National Christian School basketball tournament, finishing third in Division 5 after a loss to the eventual champions in the quarterfinals. In the consolation game, the Defenders showcased their resilience by mounting a comeback from a five-point deficit in the final minute of regulation.

Led by Faith Christian of West Virginia, the Defenders trailed by five points with just seconds remaining on the clock. However, Marcus Ryan and Sawyer Lynn scored crucial baskets to force overtime, where the team maintained their momentum and secured the win. Lynn’s 19 points, including three 3-pointers, played a key role in the victory. Junior Marcus Ryan stood out with an impressive 34-point performance, while Hunter Edwards contributed 10 rebounds and Kayden Peterson excelled on defense throughout the season. Both Ryan and Lynn earned spots on the All-Tournament team for their standout performances.

Overall, the Chautauqua Christian Academy Defenders displayed determination and skill in their tournament run, culminating in a memorable victory in the consolation game.
