Celebrating Spanish Song Lyrics with Apple Music and the Cervantes Institute: A Cultural Experience for Language Learners and Music Lovers
The Cervantes Institute and Apple Music have joined forces to curate a project celebrating the best Spanish song lyrics in history, to coincide with Spanish Language Day on April 23. Influential artists such as Andrés Calamaro, Bunbury, and Zahara have created playlists featuring their favorite lyrics on Apple Music, complete with detailed comments, song fragments, and author names. Many of the songs included in the project feature synchronized lyrics for users to follow along or sing.
As part of this collaboration, the Cervantes Institute has also launched its profile on Apple Music, offering playlists such as ‘The word in music’, ‘Learn Spanish with music’, a selection by Spanish writer Luis Mateo Díez, and ‘What sounds at the Cervantes Institute’. The goal of this project is to showcase the cultural heritage of Spanish music and highlight the richness of the Spanish language through various genres.
Luis García Montero, director of the Cervantes Institute, emphasized the importance of both high culture and popular culture in promoting the Spanish language during an event in Madrid. He stated that this project aims not only to celebrate the value of words in music but also to contribute to the learning of Spanish for students worldwide. Montero was joined at the event by artists Rozalen and El Chojin.
