16-Year-Old Kris Kim Makes PGA Tour History with Impressive Debut at Youngest Age in Nine Years
Kris Kim made history on his PGA Tour debut by becoming the youngest player to make the cut in nine years. At just 16 years old, he surpassed the record previously set by Jordan Spieth in 2010. Kim’s impressive performances in the first two rounds of the tournament included a three-under-68 and a four-under-67, showcasing his talent and skill on the course.
Despite feeling nervous on the 18th hole as he shot a birdie putt to make the cut, Kim expressed his enjoyment of the experience. He credited his mother, Ji-Hyun Suh, for introducing him to golf at the age of five. Suh now serves as his swing coach and Kim attributes his love for golf to watching her compete on the LPGA Tour in the 1990s.
Kim has already achieved success in his amateur career, winning championships like the Boys’ Amateur Championship, European Boys’ Individual Championship, and McGregor Trophy last year. His journey on PGA Tour is just beginning and he will continue to showcase his talent and potential as he competes against some of world’s best golfers. Currently he sits in a tie for 36th place, seven shots behind overnight leader Jake Knapp.
