WPIAL Spring Bracketology: Softball, Lacrosse and Volleyball Teams Gear Up for Playoffs Season

The WPIAL offices are gearing up for spring bracketology as playoffs season approaches for softball, boys and girls lacrosse. On Thursday, steering committees will come together to finalize the brackets for the district softball playoffs and lacrosse tournaments. The WPIAL Playoff Pairings Show will air at 2 p.m. on Trib HSSN, providing a breakdown of the softball playoff brackets.

In softball, some spots in the Class 3A playoff field are still up in the air with just a few games remaining in the regular season. In Section 1-3A, Upper St. Clair has secured a spot in the postseason, but if they lose and Bethel Park wins, both teams could make it to the playoffs. In Section 2-2A, Derry has an opportunity to tie for second place and secure a playoff berth with a win on Thursday.

As for boys volleyball, several WPIAL teams are vying for section titles with wins on Thursday. North Allegheny and Shaler are tied for first in Section 2-3A, while Penn-Trafford can clinch an outright section win with a victory. North Catholic and South Fayette also have a chance to share the title in their respective sections with wins.
