Could Texas Walmart health centers shut down because of increasing costs?

Walmart Shuts Down Health Centers and Telehealth Business: Impact on Patients, Associates, and Communities

Walmart has announced the closure of its 51 health centers in five states and its telehealth business, stating that there is not a sustainable business model for them to continue operating the health centers. This decision will impact patients, associates, providers, and communities.

The health centers, located next to Walmart Supercenters, offer a variety of services including medical, dental, and behavioral health care. Since their introduction in 2019, Walmart has opened 51 clinics in five states across the U.S. The retailer has not yet decided on specific dates for the closure of each center.

In Texas, Walmart operates eight health centers in various locations such as Fort Worth, Garland, Palestine, Pearland, Royse City, Sugar Land, Tomball and Tyler. More information about these health centers can be found on Walmart’s website. As decisions about the closure dates are made, the retailer intends to share further details with the public.
