Unraveling the Enigma of Post-Orgasmic Morbidity Syndrome: A Hospital in France Takes the Lead in Research
Recently, a condition known as POIS or post-orgasmic morbidity syndrome has been gaining attention in the medical community. This phenomenon, which is characterized by symptoms such as generalized muscle pain, fatigue, weakness, sweating, burning and redness of the eyes, runny nose, and headaches, is estimated to affect tens of thousands of people worldwide. However, due to its rarity and lack of awareness, many sufferers may not even realize that their symptoms are linked to sexual relations.
Researchers from a hospital in Saint Cloud, France are currently conducting a study to better understand the frequency and causes of POIS. While some hypotheses suggest that it may be caused by a brain short circuit or decreased endorphin hormone levels during orgasm, others propose that mental factors like anxiety around sex or certain personality traits may play a role. However, no scientific evidence has been found to support any of these theories yet.
While treatment options for POIS include painkillers and anti-anxiety drugs as well as treatments targeting inflammation of the prostate gland and sexual counseling at sexual health clinics, it’s important for individuals experiencing flu-like symptoms after orgasm to seek medical advice. Symptoms such as fatigue
