Super Science Group Named Top Club for 2023-24

Uniting and Inspiring: The 2024 Impact and Excellence Awards Recognize Outstanding Contributions to the College Community

The Impact and Excellence Awards recognized over 50 students, faculty, and staff for their contributions to the college community. Adventure Society President Ben Surosky, who won Outstanding Club or Organization Member of the Year, expressed his happiness at receiving the award. A third-year Spanish student, Surosky expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the club and acknowledged the efforts of the previous club president, Jasim McNichols, in setting the club up for success.

The Super Science Club was awarded Outstanding Club or Organization of the Year at the 2024 Impact and Excellence Awards on Thursday. Nine club members and advisers, including club President Bryant Pepe, accepted the award on stage at the DoubleTree by Hilton. Pepe, a third-year physics and earth science student, expressed his excitement about winning the award, stating that it feels like all their hard work has paid off. He emphasized the club’s dedication to providing the best possible experience for their students and community, making a real difference in the process.

Student Government Association Executive Vice President Rabiyatou Bah received the Student Achievement and Success Program Student of the Year Award. Bah, a second-year environmental science student, expressed her honor at receiving the award and being a part of organizing committee. She mentioned that she was not expecting to win SASP award. Communications professor April Copes and computer information systems professor Cedric Harris were awarded Dr Martin Luther king jr zeitgeist Award for exemplary work in supporting students of color and advancing diversity equity inclusion on campus community

The Teaching Excellence Award was presented to history professor Richard Hardesty and physical sciences professor Katherine Keough who will be speaking at graduation ceremony on May 23
