Unifor Wins Big for Health Care Workers in Ontario: Union Vows to Continue Fight for Fair Pay and Working Conditions in the Healthcare System
Unifor congratulates the recent decision by Arbitrator William Kaplan to award wage increases and benefit improvements to Ontario OCHU-CUPE and SEIU Healthcare members. Negotiations have begun for Unifor’s Northern Group, which includes 15 acute care units from Locals 229 and 1359 in Northern Ontario. The bargaining committee is encouraged by the recent wage gains and other improvements secured by OCHU-CUPE and SEIU Healthcare. Unifor, along with these two unions, is committed to a 10-point Solidarity Pact to protect public health care and advocate for better worker pay.
