Unifor Wins Big for Health Care Workers in Ontario: Union Vows to Continue Fight for Fair Pay and Working Conditions in the Healthcare System

Unifor congratulates the recent decision by Arbitrator William Kaplan to award wage increases and benefit improvements to Ontario OCHU-CUPE and SEIU Healthcare members. The union is pleased with the outcome and vows to achieve similar outcomes for Unifor health care workers in Ontario. Unifor emphasizes the importance of fair pay and working conditions for all workers in the health care system, which is essential to ensuring quality public health care for everyone in the province.

Negotiations have begun for Unifor’s Northern Group, which includes 15 acute care units from Locals 229 and 1359 in Northern Ontario. The bargaining committee is encouraged by the recent wage gains and other improvements secured by OCHU-CUPE and SEIU Healthcare. Unifor, along with these two unions, is committed to a 10-point Solidarity Pact to protect public health care and advocate for better worker pay.
