Europe’s Highest-Paid Banker: UBS CEO earns over 14 million euros

UBS CEO Sergio Ermotti Tops Europe’s Highest-Paid Bankers List in 2022 with €14.7 Million in Compensation

Sergio Ermotti, the CEO of UBS, earned 14.4 million Swiss francs for his nine months of work in 2022, making him the highest-paid banker in Europe. He took on this role to oversee the merger of Credit Suisse, having previously led the bank for nine years. In contrast, his predecessor Ralph Hamers earned 12.6 million francs for a full year of work in 2022.

UBS’s annual report revealed that Ermotti’s compensation for his time at UBS amounted to 14.7 million euros (equivalent to 14.4 million Swiss francs). This placed him at the top of Europe’s highest-paid bankers list in 2022. For comparison, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon earned $36 million in the same year in the US, making him the highest-paid banker globally.
