Hundreds of students had gathered for the event when shots were fired around 2:30 p.m., leaving victims aged 16 to 18 injured. Police Chief Rick Bowers expressed his sympathy for the victims, stating that they were just young people trying to have fun.

The victims were taken to the hospital, with one in critical condition and the others in stable condition. Bowers condemned the shooting as a horrible, tragic, and senseless act, indicating that it was supposed to be a day of celebration for seniors. While no arrests have been made, police believe there is a suspect who fled the scene during the chaos.
