The Ever-Enduring Pioneer: Jaromír Jágr’s Inspirational Journey in the World of Hockey
Jaromír Jágr, a 52-year-old hockey player, made history on Thursday when he surpassed Gordie Howe as the oldest professional hockey player. This marked his 36th season with Rytíři Kladno and he played in a 7-2 win over VHK Vsetín in Game 2 of their playoff relegation series. Jágr, who owns and operates the Czech team, scored a goal that gave Kladno a 2-0 series lead.
Throughout his illustrious career, which began with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1990, Jágr has accomplished many great things in the NHL. He ranks second all-time in scoring and fourth in goals scored. However, after leaving the Calgary Flames in 2018, he has been playing intermittently with Kladno. Despite this, he continues to be dedicated to his passion for hockey and is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Despite his successes on the ice, Jágr’s time with Kladno has not always been smooth sailing. In fact, during his recovery from injuries earlier this season, he spent time participating in Mario Lemieux’s adult fantasy camp. Additionally, while playing with the Penguins, a planned bobblehead night was canceled after the shipment of giveaways was stolen during delivery. Despite these challenges, Jágr remains committed to his love of hockey and continues to excel on the ice for Rytíři Kladno.
