Cybertruck Recall: Tesla Announces Issue with Accelerator Pedal

Tesla Cybertruck Recall: Unapproved Soap Used in Assembly Causes Accelerator Pedal to Malfunction”.

Nearly 4,000 Tesla Cybertrucks have been ordered to be recalled due to an accelerator pedal that can become stuck in place when pressed down. The reason for this issue is soap, which was unapproved and used as a lubricant during the assembly of the pad onto the accelerator pedal. As a result, the pad’s retention to the pedal has been reduced, causing it to dislodge and trap the pedal in the interior trim when high force is applied.

The recall affects all Model Year 2024 Cybertruck vehicles manufactured from November 13, 2023, to April 4, 2024. Documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicate that there are likely thousands of affected trucks on US roads. This issue was first brought up by social media and online groups and has since been confirmed by NHTSA. Unlike previous Tesla recalls that could be fixed with over-the-air software updates, this one requires owners to take their Cybertrucks to service centers for a repair at no cost.

Tesla has not yet responded to NHTSA’s request for comment on the recall. The company recently announced layoffs of about 10% of its workforce globally. Despite this news, Tesla continues to produce its Cybertruck at a slow pace, with the first deliveries taking place in late November. It remains unclear how many Cybertrucks have been produced so far.
