Tai Chi for Peace and Health: Celebrating World Tai Chi and Qigong Day in Triangle Park
On the last Saturday of April, members of a local Tai Chi Club participated in World Tai Chi and Qigong Day in Triangle Park. The event, which promotes the benefits of practicing Tai Chi and QiGong, is held annually and has been celebrated globally since 1999.
The purpose of the event is to create a wave of energy and intention for world peace and health. Hundreds of clubs from at least 80 countries participate, performing their forms at 10 a.m. local time. The motto for the event is “One World, One Breath,” emphasizing global togetherness and harmony.
Local beginner classes are available at the STEP Senior Center in Lock Haven, making it easy for anyone to get started with this ancient practice. Tai Chi has been recognized as “moving medication” by Harvard Health Publications due to its numerous health benefits, including reduced stress, improved balance and flexibility, and increased strength and endurance.
