Popular Kingston eatery shutting its doors after a decade of service

Taco’s and Dreams: Diego’s Restaurant Closes After 10 Years in Uptown Kingston

Diego’s, a popular taco restaurant and bar in Uptown Kingston, closed its doors for good this past Saturday after ten years in business. Owner Isaac Cruz took to Instagram to announce the closure, citing the challenges of pandemic lockdowns and rising costs as the reasons for the decision.

In his Instagram post, Cruz expressed gratitude to supporters while acknowledging the difficulties faced by the business during the pandemic. He explained that despite holding on as long as possible, the significant increase in operating costs over the past few years made it impossible to continue operating in their current location.

Diego’s invited fans to stay updated on their future plans by following them on Instagram, where they will announce their upcoming vending events for the summer. The business also requested support from the community as they navigate the transition to a mobile food vending operation.

The closure of Diego’s marks an end to an era of tasty tacos and drinks in Uptown Kingston. However, Cruz expressed hope that they would be able to continue serving their beloved tacos to customers in a new and innovative way in the future through a food truck or trailer venture.
