Sugar Factory Faces Eviction from Indianapolis Location due to Unpaid Rent

Sugar Factory, a popular New York City-based restaurant known for its sweet treats and adult beverages, opened its Indianapolis location in April 2022 at 49 W. Maryland Street, the former site of Palomino restaurant. However, the landlord of Circle Centre Mall in Indianapolis has taken legal action to evict Sugar Factory from its location due to the restaurant defaulting on rent payments.

According to court filings in Marion County Superior Court 3, a letter was sent to Sugar Factory from Circle Centre Mall, LLC. outlining that the subsidiary owes over $333,000 in back rent. The complaint filed by Circle Centre Mall states that Sugar Factory subsidiary SF Indianapolis 88 LLC has been in default of its lease since January 2023.

As a result of this issue, an eviction hearing for Sugar Factory has been scheduled for May 1st. It is clear that the landlord is taking action to resolve the issue of unpaid rent and remove Sugar Factory from the premises if necessary.
