Spotify’s Payment Wall Extension for Song Lyrics: A Source of Disappointment among Users

Spotify has recently extended the payment wall for accessing song lyrics to more users, limiting this feature to only those with premium subscriptions. This change has sparked discussions among Spotify users, with some expressing disappointment at the new restriction. Initially introduced for free accounts three years ago, the feature allowed users to view lyrics along with their favorite songs. However, in September, the company began testing a restriction on lyrics access for free account users, and more users have started to experience this limitation in recent days. Users have taken to social media and forums like Reddit to share notifications they have received when trying to access song lyrics on the Spotify website or mobile app. These notifications prompt users to subscribe to the premium plan in order to view lyrics again.
