Sheridan Media Reports: Birds are on the Move

Science Kids and SCLT Host ‘Unplug with Discovery’ Sessions: Birds on the Move

Science Kids Assistant Director Molly Kinsey and Sheridan Community Land Trust Director of Marketing and Development Chris Vrba have invited the public to disconnect from technology and explore the birdlife of Sheridan County. Kinsey, a retired elementary school teacher, emphasized Science Kids’ mission of getting children outdoors to experience and learn about the natural world. With a focus on everything from minerals to birds, Science Kids collaborates with experts to spark curiosity and imagination in children.

Science Kids has partnered with SCLT to host Unplug with Discovery Sessions: Birds on the Move. This program is designed to educate attendees about the various bird species in the local area and provide basic birdwatching skills. Spring is an ideal time to observe birds in their vibrant breeding plumage, making it a perfect opportunity to learn about different species like warblers, finches, and chickadees. Both Kinsey and Vrba encourage participants to dress appropriately for the weather and emphasize that these sessions are not limited to children.

Unplug with Discovery Sessions are also suitable for those young at heart who possess a keen interest in the natural world around them. So whether you’re a bird enthusiast or simply curious about the avian life in Sheridan County, this program offers a chance to learn and appreciate the diverse bird species in the region.
