San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame Welcomes Texas Legends Jim Rackley and Julius Whittier, as well as All-Star Athletes Anjanette Kirkland and Andrea Williams

Jim Rackley and Julius Whittier, two Texas legends, were inducted into the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2024. The induction ceremony took place at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio.

Rackley, a former football coach from Converse Judson High School in San Antonio, coached at Texas A&M from 1986-1992. During his time at A&M, he led the team to multiple conference titles and was named Southwest Conference Coach of the Year in 1987. He is currently an assistant coach for the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs.

Whittier, who attended University of Texas, was the first Black football letterman at UT and played for the Longhorns from 1983-1986. He went on to have a successful career in professional football, playing for several teams including the NFL’s Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys. Whittier currently serves as a scout for the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings.

In addition to Rackley and Whittier, the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2024 also includes former track & field athlete Anjanette Kirkland and basketball player Andrea Williams. Kirkland competed for Texas A&M from 1993-97 and excelled as a hurdler, winning multiple conference titles and earning All-America honors. She is already a member of several hall of fames including the Texas A&M Athletics Hall of Fame, Southwest Conference Hall of Fame, and Texas Black Sports Hall of Fame. Currently serving as head track and field coach at Cypress Woods High School in Houston
