Oracle enhances database technology to improve AI chatbots

Revolutionizing AI Capabilities: Oracle’s New Database Update with Vector Search Technology.

Oracle has announced the release of an update to its database technology, known as Oracle Database 23ai. This update aims to enhance the compatibility of the database with artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The new feature introduced in this update is “vector search” technology, which allows chatbots and other AI systems to search for data stored in corporate systems using concepts or ideas expressed in natural human language, rather than just keywords or phrases.

According to Juan Loaiza, executive vice president of mission-critical database technologies at Oracle, vector search technology is particularly beneficial for complex queries with multiple requirements or conditions. For example, if a user is looking for a used SUV with specific mileage and color preferences, along with optional heated seats, the new Oracle database can better understand and process such nuanced requests compared to traditional database technologies.

Oracle Database 23ai is now available on Oracle’s cloud computing service and through its cloud database partners like Microsoft. However, the company has not disclosed a timeline for when it will be accessible for deployment in private data centers of companies. Existing Oracle Database customers will receive the new technology at no extra cost.
