Small businesses in Ironton have a new opportunity for grants

Revitalizing Ironton’s Economy: How Small Businesses Can Benefit from the City’s Economic Development Fund

In Ironton, Ohio, small businesses have the chance to apply for grant money through the city’s economic development fund. This program aims to help businesses with capital improvements and promote growth. The city gives extra consideration to applicants who plan to use the funds for matching current spending or creating new job opportunities.

Mayor Sam Cramblit stated that the funds allocated to this economic development fund come from hotel tax revenues generated by stays at the city’s two hotels. If a business is awarded a portion of this grant money and uses it according to the specified guidelines, they will not have to repay the funds to the city.

Many businesses, including Kouns Korner, are excited about this opportunity. Daly Malone, an employee at Kouns Korner, expressed enthusiasm for using the grant for various improvements like expanding kitchen space, adding parking, and increasing seating capacity due to the business’s rapid growth.

Interested businesses can find the grant application online on the city’s website or submit it in person at the mayor’s office by June 14th. This initiative is aimed at supporting small businesses and enhancing economic development in Ironton.
