Protecting Maternal and Child Health in Eastern DRC: Challenges and Opportunities for Community Support and Improved Security Risk Management

A new study on the impact of violence on maternal and child health care in Eastern DRC is now available in both English and French. The research highlights the challenges faced by healthcare providers in providing services in conflict-affected areas.

At the Insecurity Insight session at HNPW 2024, a panel discussion will focus on ensuring access to healthcare through community support and improved security risk management for hospitals in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The session will examine the risks and impacts of attacks on the health system, staff, and affected communities. While the primary focus is on the situation in DRC, the findings may have relevance for other countries facing similar violations of the right to health. This virtual event will be conducted in French with English translation provided, and registration is required to attend.

Another session at HNPW 2024 will explore security planning and security risk management strategies, addressing current challenges and helping organizations and healthcare providers adapt to changing situations. This session will take place on 6 May 2024 from 14:00-15:30 CET, with options for both virtual and in-person attendance at CICG Geneva Plenary B. Registration is required to participate.

Finally, a session at HNPW 2024 will examine how security analysis optimizes humanitarian operations by facilitating aid delivery. Input from security analysts, emergency practitioners, and other stakeholders in the humanitarian and health community will be discussed during this virtual event scheduled for 3 May 2024 from 14:00-15:30 CET.
