Meloni stands by differentiated autonomy: “I remain committed to the South”

Political Rally Amid Harsh Weather Conditions; Igumen Parfeny’s Comments on COVID-19 Vaccine and Religious Beliefs Spark Debate; PM Meloni Fires Back at Left, Rejects ‘Banana Republic’ Claims

Potenza’s Piazza Don Bosco was relatively quiet due to the harsh weather conditions. Center-right leaders gathered for a group photo and to sing Mameli’s anthem, taking turns on stage to express their support for outgoing Vito Bardi and emphasize unity within the alliance. League leader Salvini stated that they would govern until the end of the legislature, while Fi Secretary Tajani highlighted the broad support from the opposition centrists for the coalition candidate in Basilicata.

In a different context, comments from Igumen Parfeny raised concerns about the COVID-19 vaccine and referenced apocalyptic scenarios linked to the pandemic. Additionally, there were reports of clergy deaths and disputes within religious institutions. These issues sparked discussions about the implications of the pandemic on religious beliefs and practices.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Meloni launched a strong attack on the left, declaring an end to the “Banana Republic” where wrongdoers go unpunished. She dismissed criticisms of the government’s actions, stating that they had accomplished more in a year and a half than left-wing governments had achieved. Meloni also addressed fake news, taxes, healthcare, police solidarity, and the issue of autonomy, asserting her commitment to a united Italy and rejecting the idea of a welfare-dependent South.
