NYU Langone Health and Long Island Hospital Move Closer to Merger

NYU Langone Health and Long Island Community Hospital Affiliate to Boost Healthcare Services in New York

In 2022, NYU Langone Health, based in New York City, and Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, New York received approval from both state and federal authorities to affiliate. This approval resulted in NYU Langone becoming the active parent organization of the 306-bed medical center. The announcement of the affiliation plan was made in the summer of 2021.

As part of the affiliation plan, Long Island Community Hospital underwent a name change and became a division within the NYU Langone hospital system. This move integrated the hospital into the larger NYU Langone network to provide enhanced healthcare services to the community.

A spokesperson for NYU Langone Health mentioned to Becker’s that while Long Island Community Hospital remains a separate corporation, its affiliation with NYU Langone will allow it to access the resources of the larger system. The spokesperson mentioned that a full merger is expected to take place in approximately one year.
