North Texas Voters Reject Large Stadium Proposals in Favor of Safety and Technology Upgrades

North Texas voters approved millions of dollars in school bond proposals over the weekend, with a focus on safety and technology upgrades being more successful compared to larger requests for things like sports stadiums. In Anna ISD, a $100 million proposal for a new stadium was rejected by 57% of voters, marking the second time it was turned down. Similarly, in Argyle, two out of three proposals failed, including funding for a baseball-softball complex and new schools, gym, cafeteria, and land for future construction.

In Granbury ISD, 82% of voters rejected a proposal for $161.5 million for new schools and improvements. Mansfield ISD had the most expensive list of proposals totaling $777 million, with two proposals approved for upgrades and technology improvements, while three proposals were rejected for stadium and orchestra hall renovations. In Lewisville, voters approved a bond package worth over $100 million for maintenance and repairs at swim centers, high school stadiums, and athletic facilities.
