Newark Terminal A named best new terminal in the world by Skytrax

Newark Liberty and LaGuardia Airports Secure Skytrax Five-Star Rating for Excellence in Operations and Customer Service

Newark Liberty International Airport and LaGuardia Airport are the only two airports in North America to have been awarded the highest Skytrax rating. This recognition came after Terminal A at Newark Liberty received a five-star rating from the global airport evaluation firm following an audit of its facilities, operations, and customer service. The award was presented at the Passenger Terminal Expo & Conference in Frankfurt, Germany, marking the second consecutive time that the Port Authority received this honor.

The redesign of Terminal A is part of a $30 billion project to transform major airports in the New York and New Jersey metro area, with the next phase focusing on redesigning Terminal B at Newark’s airport. The new terminal cost $2.7 billion and is a testament to the Port Authority’s largest-ever single investment in New Jersey and the state’s largest design-build project.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy praised the recognition, stating that it was a well-deserved honor for the ongoing renaissance at Newark Liberty International Airport. The evaluation process for the award included surveys to passengers about terminal facilities, staff service, check-in, arrivals, transfers, security, customs, and shopping. These factors were taken into consideration during Skytrax’s assessment of Terminal A’s excellence.

Overall, this achievement is a testament to the commitment of both private companies and government entities towards providing passengers with top-notch services and experiences when traveling through these two major airports in North America.
